Agricultural activities to reduce poverty
GAFSP aims to improve water and land management and investment in water harvesting and small scale spate, introduce or expand new or improved rain-fed staple and higher value crops. This activity builds on existing Community Driven Development (CDD) approaches to sustainable agricultural incomes and improve the incomes of poor households. The project also focuses on adding value to a principal asset of the poor by increasing the availability of animal health services.
Strengthening key service delivery functions
The project promotes and builds capacity of community cooperatives/association, community land and water management associations, public and private organizations to develop sustainable and empowered rural organization. It also provides support to community-based investment planning, implementation and management, including for women.
