Second Call for Proposals 2012

The Second Call for Proposals closed on March 31, 2012. GAFSP received complete applications from 18 eligible countries. The amount requested totaled $736.3 million.

Countries that submitted complete packages:

• Africa (12): Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, The Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Senegal, and Tanzania
• Asia (3): Bhutan, Kyrgyz Republic, and Lao PDR
• Latin America & Caribbean (2): Honduras and Nicaragua
• Middle East (1): Yemen

The GAFSP Steering Committee selected 6 projects in 6 countries for the funding of $177 million.

Detailed funds allocation:

Burundi ($30 million; IFAD), The Gambia ($28 million; AFD & FAO), Kyrgyz Republic ($38 million; World Bank); Malawi ($39.6 million; AFDB); Senegal ($40 million; AFDB), Tanzania ($22.9 million; World Bank).
