About the Project
The project aims to strengthen the climate resilience of smallholder farmers while improving food sovereignty and incomes through enhanced post-harvest systems. It will build the institutional and operational capacities of producer organizations and their members, benefiting approximately 1,800 farmer organizations and 27,500 producers. The project will scale up activities under the TransAgri program implemented by Fert.
Key interventions include the dissemination of agroecological practices adapted to climate change through living labs and farmer-to-farmer exchanges, alongside investments in bio-production infrastructure (such as vermicomposting and Black Soldier Fly systems), improved water management, climate-resilient seed production, and strengthened savings and credit services. The project will also support training and awareness-raising on nutrition, including cooking demonstrations, as well as efforts to reduce post-harvest losses and improve storage, processing, and market access. Special attention will be given to strengthening the leadership of women and youth in farming communities and enhancing their participation in PO governance, complemented by improved monitoring and evaluation systems.
