About the Project
The project aims to strengthen climate resilience, food security, and nutrition for 450 smallholder families in Comayagua and Santa Bárbara in Honduras’ Dry Corridor. It promotes agroecology- and SAFS-based local food systems while improving incomes, diets, and resilience.
The project will establish diversified agroecological production systems, including 300 plots, solar micro-irrigation and rainwater harvesting systems, mesh houses, small livestock units, and community seed and grain reserves, alongside leadership training and rural savings groups. It will improve nutrition through better water access, clean cooking solutions, food processing, dietary diversification, and awareness campaigns. Economic opportunities will be expanded through improved market access, value addition, and support for women- and youth-led enterprises linked to savings groups. The project will also strengthen local governance by supporting municipal food and nutrition security policies, piloting agroecological school meals, and integrating digital tools. Participatory monitoring and communication systems will ensure learning, accountability, and visibility of results.
