About the Project
The Farmers’ Organisations Financing Program in Tanzania aims to expand access to affordable finance for agricultural cooperatives and smallholder farmers operating in key food crop value chains. Through a blended finance approach implemented with CRDB Bank, the program mobilizes private capital while reducing risk through technical assistance and first‑loss coverage, enabling farmer organizations to invest in working capital, aggregation, storage, and productivity‑enhancing assets.
The program’s objective is to strengthen the financial and organizational capacity of farmer organizations while improving incomes, food security, and market access for rural households. By prioritizing inclusive lending models, digitalization, and targeted support for women and youth farmers, FOFP‑T supports more resilient, professional, and commercially viable farmer organizations that can participate more effectively in Tanzania’s food system.
